House of the Risen Son - Introducing Seekers to the Bible

House of the Risen Son is a Russian-Jewish Messianic Fellowship ministering to former Soviet immigrants of the Philadelphia area, many of whom are Jewish. You are reading our first newsletter!

There is so much to tell you, but this month I'll start by describing for you one of the 3 Russian/English language groups that make up our fellowship. We call it our Bible Seminar group. We meet twice-a-month, and we aim to introduce seekers to the Bible. Our teacher is Reverend Fred Klett, director of the CHAIM ministry (Christians Announcing Israel's Messiah). This group focuses on the Torah and the Old Testament, and answers basic questions about Judaism, Christianity, the promises of God, the New Testament, and the Messiah. We have 12-25 people who come out, most of them Russian Jews, and also some American Christians who love to share their faith. During our refreshment time, we make friends and practice our Russian and English!

J. (name withheld on request), who hosts many of the meetings over her house, is one of the interesting people in our group. At a recent meeting, she said that Judaism shows us how to obey God. But it's sad that many Jews have rejected Jesus, because He shows Jews how they can love other people! What a great insight! J. is going through very difficult times recently. Her husband had major surgery, and she was laid off from her job. Please pray for her.

The other two groups that are part of our fellowship are our Bible Study group, for people who have advanced in their understanding and are making steps to accept Jesus as Lord, and our Sunday Worship group, for those who want to come together with other believers to worship the Lord and hear teaching from His Word.

Our prayer is that God would transform our little Messianic Fellowship into one of the first full-fledged Russian Jewish Christian congregation in the Philadelphia area. In months to come, I hope to share with you what God is doing in our midst, and how you can help in this unique ministry!
